Diya Kumari, the BJP Parliamentarian from Rajsamand Parliamentary constituency is in the news for all the right reasons. In the recently held Elections to the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, Smt Diya Kumari won the Vidyadhar Nagar Assembly seat by a huge margin of 71,368 votes. She defeated her rival from the Congress Party Sitaram Agarwal. Her name has been doing the rounds to be the next Chief Minister of Rajasthan
Diya Kumari is a Royal Princess and is the granddaughter of Maharaja Man Singh II, the last ruler of the princely state of Jaipur. She joined BJP in the year 2013 and later in the year defeated Kirori Lal Meena during the elections held in September 2013. Smt. Kumari is a highly educated women lawmaker from the state. She is an alumnus of the Chelsea School of Arts, London. She is also an astute businesswoman and manages several crores worth of property, business, hotels, trusts and schools.
She is also the Brand Ambassador, Save the Girl Child, Government of Rajasthan.
Diya Kumari is the mother of two sons and daughter. She was married to Narendra Singh, a Chartered Accountant and a non-royal which was unheard of in royal families. The two divorced in the year 2018.
